- Orion Burger: A Taste You'll Never Forget!
-
- Certain PC configurations may cause problems when you try to run
- Orion Burger. Please read the list below and follow the instructions
- that apply to your system configuration.
-
-
- RUNNING ORION BURGER UNDER WINDOWS 95
-
- Orion Burger has been tested and will run under Windows 95
- using one of the following two methods:
-
- METHOD 1:
- Restart your computer and press F8 (function 8) as Windows 95 is starting up.
- Next, select "previous version of MS-DOS" from the Windows 95 startup menu.
- When you arrive at the C:\ prompt, change your working drive to the CD-ROM
- drive, and your current directory to the Orion Burger demo directory, and
- type install.
- NOTE: This method is preferred. Orion Burger was designed to run
- on your previous version of MS-DOS.
-
- METHOD 2:
- Allow Windows 95 to start completely, then select "shutdown" from the "start"
- menu. On the "shutdown" menu, click on "restart the computer in MS-DOS mode."
- When you arrive at the C:\ prompt, change your working drive to the CD-ROM
- drive, and your current directory to the Orion Burger demo directory, and
- type install.
- NOTE: While Orion Burger will run using this method, you are
- encouraged to try Method 1 before trying this method. If you do choose to
- use this method, save your game frequently.
-
- NOTE: Windows 95 controls system configuration. Should you encounter
- any errors, such as a missing VESA driver or a missing CD ROM driver,
- consult your Windows 95 documentation.
-
-
- MEMORY REQUIREMENTS FOR ORION BURGER
- Orion Burger requires at least 6800k of free extended memory. You
- can check the amount of free memory by using the MEM command at the C:\
- prompt:
-
- MEM [ENTER]
-
- Under the "Memory Type" heading, find the "Extended (XMS)" line and follow
- it across to the right hand side under the "Free" column. You should see
- at least 6800k or more. If you have less than 6800k free, remove
- any RAM disks that may be running and make sure that SmartDrive has been
- disabled following the instructions below.
-
-
- SYSTEMS WITH 8 MEGABYTES OF RAM USING SMARTDRIVE
- (or other disk cache utility)
- Orion Burger will not function properly if you are using
- SmartDrive or any other disk cache utility.
- In order to run Orion Burger, you must remove the line:
-
- c:\dos\smartdrv.exe
-
- by using a REM statement to disable it as follows:
-
- REM c:\dos\smartdrv.exe
-
- If you wish to re-enable SmartDrive after you have finished playing
- Orion Burger, simply remove the REM statement at the beginning
- of the line.
-
- If your computer uses a disk caching utility other than SmartDrive, you will
- need to consult the utility's documentation to determine how to remove
- the utility from your system.
-
-
- DETECTING SOUND CARDS
- INSTALL will attempt to detect the settings of your sound card if you have
- specified which sound card is installed in your system. The detect feature
- can also be selected manually by clicking the Detect Settings button.
- Some computer configurations may cause the detection routines in INSTALL
- to 'freeze' or 'hang' your computer or cause your computer to reboot. If you
- experience any of these problems, run SETUP with the -n -n parameters from
- the BURGER directory:
-
- SETUP -n -n[ENTER]
-
- This will disable sound card detection, and you will need to enter your sound
- card's settings manually in SETUP. For more information on these settings,
- refer to your sound card documentation.
-
-
- ADLIB MSC16 SOUND CARDS
- If you have an Adlib MSC16 sound card installed in your system, you will need
- to select "Sound Blaster 8" on all of the sound card setup menus and manually
- set the sound card port in INSTALL. Also, once you have exited the game and
- returned to DOS, you will need to manually reset your sound card. Failure to
- do so may cause your computer to 'freeze' or 'hang' the next time you attempt
- to run any application. To reset your MSC16 card, type:
-
- M16INIT /b [ENTER]
-
- at the DOS prompt.
-
- You may also restart your computer to reset the sound card.
-
-
- REVEAL SOUNDFX WAVE 32 SOUND CARDS
- If you have a Reveal SoundFX Wave 32 card installed in your system, you will
- need to select "Soundscape" for the digital sound setup options in INSTALL.
